Hardware/Optical Engineer

Role/Responsibility
Reporting to the Director, Hardware and Optical Engineering, the Hardware/Optical Engineer will be responsible for the design of complex high speed optical sub-systems. The successful candidate will have a key role in ensuring the success of Mintera’s existing product and in defining, specifying, designing future products. The person must be customer-driven, solutions-focused and have a deep understanding of telecommunication transport equipment design, design of DWDM transmission systems and will be familiar with design for manufacturability.

Required Skills and Experience
• High-speed analog and mixed signal design
• Experience specifying and testing electro-optical components, sub-systems and system designs
• Modeling, analysis, simulation of optical circuits
• Experience with Mathcad or Matlab.
• Vendor and component selection of new parts
• In-depth knowledge of DWDM technologies, components and systems
• Experience working with PCB layout designers, high speed signals, signal integrity, and constraints including a working knowledge of the Allegro PCB layout package
• A solid understating of transmission line theory and effects
• Candidates should have a successful track record of product design from concept through manufacture
• Product development experience: Generating hardware specification, DVT, regulatory compliance, NPI
• Experience with telecommunications transport type designs: distributed power, thermal, high reliability
• Proven track record of successful DWDM transponder/line card product developments at 10 Gbps and 40 Gbps
• Knowledge of DWDM, OTN, SONET/SDH, Ethernet networking
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal

Minimum Education/Experience
• BSEE or equivalent; MSEE is preferred
• 9+ years experience working in the optical transmission arena


Principal Systems Engineer

Role/Responsibility
Reporting to the Director Systems Engineering, the Principal Systems Engineer will manage the roll-out of our 40 Gbps optical transmission sub-systems to our customers. This will include management of day-to day activities and on–site support to one or more customers including Network Equipment Manufacturers, OEM partners, System Integrators and VARs. The incumbent will work directly with internal product development in providing feedback to our Product Management and Engineering teams that may impact product changes and/or enhancements.

Required Skills and Experience
• Technical knowledge and direct experience in the following:
a. WDM Optical transmission systems, preferably Metro, LH and ULH including some level of design and implementation.
b. SONET & SDH
c. Ethernet transport
• Proven track record in a similar area supporting both trials and deployments
• Experience in RFX authoring for proposals, applications notes, service descriptions, business cases, and other business documents and proposals
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Willingness to travel frequently both domestically and internationally

Minimum Education/Experience:
• BSEE or equivalent and 10+ years experience working in either the telecommunications carrier or transmission vendor sectors.

Principal FPGA Design Engineer

Role/Responsibility
Reporting to the Director of Hardware Engineering, the Principal level FPGA Design Engineer will be responsible for the development and implementation of FPGA designs for Mintera’s products. The successful candidate will have a key role in ensuring the success of current and future products. She/he must be customer-driven, solutions-focused and have a deep understanding of telecommunication transport equipment design and design for manufacturability.

Required Skills and Experience
• Creates cost-effective, compact, efficient and reliable FPGA designs
• Works with the HW & SW teams to define requirements and provide FPGA design and interface specifications
• Performs Verilog coding, simulations, and synthesis tasks
• Creates test platforms for chip level and board level verification
• Responsible for the initial lab debug and bring-up of FPGA and board/system level hardware designs
• Experience with Xilinx or Altera FPGAs
• Thorough understanding of synthesis, simulation, & other industry standard EDA tools
• Knowledge of DWDM, OTN, SONET/SDH, Ethernet networking
• BSEE or equivalent and 8+ years experience working in either the telecommunications or optical transmission arena. MSEE is preferred

Manufacturing Quality Assurance Engineer

Role/Responsibility
Reporting to the Manager Technical Operations and Quality Control, the Manufacturing Quality Assurance Engineer will work as a key member of the corporate cross functional New Product Development team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in team management, ISO9000 certification, designing and implementing QA policies and procedures, and hands on experience working with Contract Manufacturers.

Required Experience
• Works as a key member of the corporate cross functional New Product Development team with the responsibility to;
o Develop an effective, and comprehensive product Quality Control architecture
o Develop and implement the Quality Control plan at the designated Contract Manufacturer(s) to insure the implemented solution(s) generate real time data which is useful in proactively managing daily product quality.
• Create and maintain an Incoming Inspection program within Mintera, validate same is implemented at selected Contract Manufacturer(s).
• Develop SPC control plans the appropriate test and/or assembly steps within the Contract Manufacturer(s)
• Lead supplier audits in conjunction with selection of new suppliers. Perform follow-up audits as necessary
• Lead corporate ISO9000 certification effort
• Participate on cross functional new product introduction teams. Assure supply base is prepared to implement necessary quality control plans in conjunction with project timelines
• Work directly with Contract Manufacturer(s) quality management counterparts to assure quality control plans, tools and reporting schema are properly implemented and maintained
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to monitor product data and quality yields. Identify and drive defect root cause analysis activities.
• Participate in reviewing and approving supplier PCN’s and subsequent implementation decisions
Qualifications:
• The QA Engineer will develop and implement quality management processes and controls to assure Mintera’s supply chain delivers defect free product.
• The QA Engineer will be responsible for working with all of Mintera’s key suppliers, assessing their quality management practices and recommending enhancements that result in a high level of predictable product flow which meets published product quality specifications.
• The successful candidate will have a strong background in designing and implementing quality data collection systems which focus on key predictive indications of process and product quality for optically based systems.
• Experience working with cross functional teams during new products introductions, working with Contract Manufacturers during early implementation stages of introducing a new product into volume manufacturing and be capable of developing and defining the required quality control criteria at a supplier is required.

Required Technical Skills
• Telecommunications experience with Carrier Grade products (Ethernet, SONET, ATM, TDM, OC-x, 40Gbps.)
• Supplier quality auditing experience
• Working with telecom customers presenting quality management protocols/tools
• An understanding of and demonstrated experience designing and quality data collection and SPC solutions
• Working directly with Contract Manufacturers
• Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, TQM, and ISO 9000 standards
• A firm knowledge of passive and active components.
• An understanding of analog and digital circuitry.

Minimum Education/Experience:
• BS degree
• 5-7 years of relevant work experience
