Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom Selects Mintera's MI-40000 to Taipei, Taiwan and Lowell, MA - April 27, 2005 - Mintera Corporation, a global performance leader enabling migration of optical transport to 40 Gigabits per second (Gbps) in metro-core, regional and long-haul networks, and Taiwan's leading telecommunications company, Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), today announce the selection and installation of Mintera's MI-40000 for Chunghwa Telecom Labs (CHT-TL) 40 Gbps DWDM pilot transmission initiative. CHT-TL's network, using Mintera's MI-40000 systems, positions the company to provide 10 Gbps and/or 40 Gbps wavelength services as an “overlay” solution to their existing 2.5 or 10 Gbps optical line infrastructure. The transport system can also perform as a stand-alone 40 Gbps network; increasing performance and service options while reducing costs. CHT-TL's Request for Proposal, issued last June, specified equipment to transmit 40 Gbps DWDM channels over 500 km of G.655 fiber, and represents the first tender bid in Asia for 40 Gigabit transport equipment. “We are honored to be selected and thoroughly tested by CHT-TL for their 40 Gbps initiative,” said Mintera's CEO, Terry Unter. “Mintera's equipment had to perform flawlessly in order to pass CHT-TL's very stringent performance and reliability tests. Mintera's advanced 40 Gbps technology offers Chunghwa Telecom the ability to transport 10 Gbps Ethernet, OC-192/STM-64 SONET, or OC-768/STM-256 SONET cost effectively, while meeting their growing demands for video aggregation and other broadband applications.” About Mintera Corporation About Chunghwa Telecom Printer friendly version |
