Mintera Adds to Executive Management Team Acton, Mass., December 13, 2007 – Mintera® Corporation, the high bit-rate optical transport systems solution leader, today announced that Piero Matrona has joined the company as Vice President, Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) to support new customers of Mintera’s MI 4000XM Adaptive-DPSK™ 40 Gbps DWDM module. Matrona brings more than fifteen years of experience in the optical transport market covering a broad range of disciplines including Product Management, Business Development, Marketing and Sales. “I am extremely pleased to welcome Piero to the team,” said Mintera President and CEO Terry Unter. “Piero’s highly successful track record will be very valuable to Mintera as we continue to execute on our growth strategy and position the company for continued success.” Most recently, Matrona was in charge of worldwide sales for Pirelli Broadband Solutions for both Optical Components and Systems. In his first twelve months in this position he successfully introduced Pirelli’s products in Europe, North America and China winning key customers in all three geographic locations. Prior to this, Matrona was in charge of Marketing and Sales for Vivato, a developer of metropolitan WiFi systems and also Terawave Communications in the BPON/GPON arena. Matrona was also VP Brand Management for Nortel’s Ultra-Long Haul Optical Transport platform following Nortel’s acquisition of Qtera. His first industry experience was with Pirelli Optical Systems which was later acquired by Cisco. At Pirelli/Cisco, Matrona’s roles spanned from Research and Development where he developed the market’s first analog transponder, to System Engineering designing some of the industry’s first EDFA and WDM networks, to Product Management for optical components along with terrestrial and submarine WDM systems. “I am enthusiastic to be part of the Mintera team and to have an opportunity to contribute to the continuing success of the company,” said Matrona. “The entire team has positioned Mintera to be the market leading provider of high bit-rate DWDM transmission solutions.” Matrona holds MS and BS degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Palermo in Italy.
